Movement should be approached like life - with enthusiasm, joy and gratitude - for movement is life, and life is movement, and we get out of it what we put into it.

- Ron Fletcher

About Pilates

Pilates - pronounced Pi-lah-teez, is a technique created in the '20s by Joseph Pilates.

It is an exercise-based system that aims to develop the body's "centre" in order to create a stable core for all types of movement. The technique stretches and mobilizes and is often used to rehabilitate injuries, making it popular with athletes, dancers and anyone who wants to develop their individual physique and physical potential.

Pilates is an all- encompassing mind, body exercise. You will notice improved posture and greater range of movement as your entire body is realigned.

Most of us have imbalanced bodies which ultimately leads to poor posture, spinal misalignment and tension. The Pilates method develops concentration which leads to enhanced body control which in turn develops a strong central core which frees the body allowing for flowing movement and precision.

About The Classes

Mat
These simple exercise patterns are done on the floor. The Mat work enhances motion in the spine, strengthens the muscles of the trunk and extremities, and increases flexibility with control.

Reformer
"The reformer enables one to ... properly engage and exercise specific muscle groups against the tension of ingeniously placed springs and straps - unhampered by your own weight." - Ron Fletcher

Barrel
A class for all levels, the exercises on the barrel are an intense full-body workout.

Floor/Combination
A combination of mat, ball and floorwork designed for the intermediate level. A fun, fast-paced class.

Conditioning
Based on the Pilates technique of body awareness, this non-impact, non-aerobic workout strengthens the abs, core, back, arms and legs using tubing for resistance. A very challenging class!
